Biotin – For Hair, Skin and Nails

Well Ladies I know it has been quite some time since my last post. Ok, I will admit it has been probably months but I do have a full time job and a lot on my plate so makes it kind of hard to keep up with this blog but here I am trying again! Hey, it is always better to try then to not try at all. So lately I have been pretty obsessed with making my hair grow faster and longer! I have literally been trying everything from vitamins, lasers, minoxidil, working out, good eating and more! It is pretty exhausting sometimes but I’m determined to get back my long thick hair that I had for so long.

It wasn’t until the last few years that I noticed my hair thinning. Then it got really bad after a trip to Thailand this last December. Towards the end of the two weeks of being there my hair started shedding in huge clumps. I thought maybe it was just a phase but it lasted well into January and then some. So I consulted my father who is a physician and he recommended supplements and some other things. Amongst some of the things I was recommended was Biotin.

Now Biotin is a part of the “B” family of vitamins. However, it is known for helping grow hair, skin and nails. For my situation it turned out in the end that it was my birth control and hormone issues that were really messing up my hair growth. So I switched my birth control to one that contained more progesterone and that really seemed to help stop the shedding. However, I did continue on my vitamin regime and the Biotin. Now I can’t say for sure if it is the Biotin or what but I have noticed my hair growing. The largest difference is how fast my nails grow. Literally, they are the length of fake nails and they don’t break! So I keep taking it simply because I know it really is helping my nails at the very least. So let me know your thoughts about Biotin or anything else you have tried for hair loss/hair growth. I would love to hear others input on this subject!
